A Good Photograph Is More Than Technicality
You hear it time and again. “A picture is worth a thousand words.” This can’t be more true than when a photograph evokes strong and/or tender emotions.
If a picture makes you smile, or cry, or stop and think then it’s worth its weight in gold whether it’s technically good or not. Here are two images that do this for me.
One was taken by me of my sister holding her newborn son’s hand. She’s not with us any more.
The other was taken of me and my Mom, who is also not with us any more. (Thanks to whoever took this image with my camera!!) By the way, happy birthday, Mom!
These are the kind of pictures you put in your fire-safe box and treasure forever.
Which pictures do you treasure and why?

Most of the pictres I love and treasure were taken by you! So, thank you! A picture is worth more than a thousand words, it's worth more than a thousand feelings.
I treasure a picture of me with my Mom taken by my Dad. It was my graduation day and we were celebrating at a restaurant. Mom and I are sitting at the table laughing. Even though my dad is not in the picture, I know he was so proud of me that day. He died just a few months after that. Whenever I look at that picture, I remember him holding the camera.
ps–Happened to find another photographer/blogger today that I think you would like. I posted the link to your blog in a comment on hers, and I'm doing the same here. The link to her blog is http://afreshstartwithkalei.blogspot.com/
My favorite photos are the candids of my kids doing something goofy or something they thought I wasn't watching. It reminds me to let them be kids. 🙂
Photography plays such a special role in our lives helping us to capture and remember those tender, funny, special moments with family and friends. Keep taking those pictures!!!!! Carmen, I'm happy to have been a part of capturing those memories and feelings for you. Galen, I'll definitely check out that blog!! Thanks!
