Most Embarrassing Moment
We’ve all had one. I have one that I don’t tell many people. And I’m not going to tell that one here. But, I will tell you one. Why? Because we’ve all had them. Right?
This one involved a photo shoot with two very good friends of mine, Kirsten and Dave. Very talented musicians. They bestowed upon me the honor of photographing their CD cover. This was for the second of their two CDs – Things You Learn. It was great fun and I’m very very glad they are very very good and understanding friends.
It was a beautiful fall afternoon and we decided to shoot at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus, MA., a lovely location. So, at the appointed time, I grabbed my camera bag and ran out the door.
We all arrived around the same time and exchanged our hello hugs. (Yes, I’m a hugger and I’m fortunate that most of my friends are too!) So, we walked around and scouted out a few spots and discussed some ideas. Finally ready to get started with the shoot, I opened my camera bag. Yeah, I should have done that at home, BEFORE I left the house. No camera. Really. I had been downloading pictures the night before and had forgotten to disconnect it from the computer and put it back in the bag.
Did I mention that I’m grateful that they are very very good and very very understanding friends? I had to rush back home (1/2 hour each way) grab my camera, and pick up my young nephew whom I was supposed to babysit later. We ended up having a great time and got some great shots. I was lucky that my phone has a camera too and my little photographer’s assistant ran around taking pictures of random things like our butts. (Leave it to an 8 year old boy!)
I learned an important lesson to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check my camera bag for everything – especially the camera! – before leaving for a shoot. I haven’t forgotten my camera since.
How about you? Do you have a most embarrassing moment?
